January/ February

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a good holiday and you found some time to relax and have fun. The snow has finally arrived and so has the cold weather. Remember to dress warmly since children will be going outdoors weather permitting. A great way to stay warm is to dress your children in layers. Please remember to send hat, mitts, snow pants and boots daily.  Also remember to drive safely in the winter and allow yourself ample time to drop off and pick up your children.

Winter is a great time to enjoy the outdoors so bundle up and enjoy some time together. Try skating, building snowmen or taking a winter walk under a full moon. Take a camera along and capture those fun winter moments while everyone has rosy cheeks. When you come back inside enjoy a hot chocolate or a bowl of soup or curl up under a blanket and read a story.

With the cold weather comes the flu season!  I know that it has already hit some families and providers homes as well. This is a good time to remember the importance of hand washing for everyone. Try and wash hands often to keep from spreading the germs!  Please monitor your children for signs of illness and keep children home if they are sick. A child should be fever free and not have thrown up within 24 hours to return to daycare. Flu’s, as well as fevers can come on quickly if your child develops signs of illness you may be called to pick up your child from daycare. Your continued co-operation in this manner is greatly appreciated.

Family Day and Valentine’s Day is coming up in February so get ready to show some love and appreciation! Also don’t forget to watch for the ground hog to see how many more weeks of winter we will have left.
